In the city of Zurich and the canton, there are five realistic ways to get rid of an old sofa. Which is the right one depends on three questions: How good is the sofa? Can you wear it yourself? How fast does it have to go?

We are Option 4 – with one difference: Before we charge, we check if we can buy the sofa. We prepare used designer sofas and resell them, which means that a good sofa is goods for us and not waste.

Fixed price, including pick-up from the apartment, staircase and disassembly. Who buys a sofa from us, pays the left price – we are anyway with the delivery truck in front of the door.
If your sofa is good, we will pay you for it
If the sofa is well preserved and from a sought-after brand – Vitra, USM Haller, de Sede, Rolf Benz, BoConcept, Ligne Roset, Bullfrog, Natuzzi, Ewald Schillig, Minotti – we buy it. Instead of a disposal bill, you get money. Two photos and the crowd are enough for one answer.
When you give us not need
- Sofa under 2 m, car available, time on Saturday: The recycling yard is cheaper. Go there.
- Sofa like new, brand known, you have two months: On Tutti or Ricardo you solve more than we can pay – we have to clean it, store it and sell it again.
- Sofa clean and modern, but no-name: Ask the Brockenhaus first. If accepted, it will cost you nothing.
Call us if none of these three cases apply – usually when the sofa is large, stands upstairs, or it has to go fast.
Frequent questions
What does it cost to have a sofa disposed of in Zurich?
A private pick-up service in Zurich costs around CHF 100 to 350 depending on the size and floor. At SofaLab, the fixed price is between CHF 139 for a 2-seater and CHF 199 for a residential landscape, including pick-up from the apartment. The own way to the recycling yard is cheaper, but requires a vehicle and two people.
Does the city of Zurich take my sofa for free?
No. Collection by disposal + recycling Zurich (ERZ) is subject to a fee, and at the mobile recycling yards sofas are only accepted up to 2 m in length.
Does the Brockenhaus take every sofa?
No. Brockenhäuser check in advance on the basis of photos and usually reject sofas with stains, cracks, animal hair or smoke odor – just as often sofa beds and very large corner sofas, because they are difficult to sell.
Is it worth selling an old sofa instead of disposing of it?
With well-known brands yes, with no-name sofas rarely. Expect several weeks of advertisements, lots of news and the question of who is wearing the sofa from the apartment – that is exactly what most private sales fail shortly before the conclusion.
How quickly can a sofa be picked up?
Private providers, SofaLab included, usually pick up within 48 hours, Monday to Saturday. The city pickup is based on the tour plan and takes longer.
What happens to the sofa after collection?
Useful sofas are cleaned, repaired and resold. Everything else is disassembled and recycled separately: wood, metal, foam and textile.
